The Hillbilly Savants are a band that performs rootsy country and blues and includes:

JJ BARRERA/Bajo Sexto/VOX

Jean Jacque Barrerra is a seventh generation Tejano, descendant of the founders of Victoria, Texas.  JJ has toured the globe with Santiago Jimenez Jr. and the Tailgators.  Locally, he performs regularly with T Tex Edwards, Son Y No Son, Johnny Degollado y su Conjunto, Tailgators, and Conjunto Aztlan.

OREN OUBRE/Drums/VOX

Oren Oubre was born on the river, next to the bayou, in New Orleans.  He's played R&B, soul, funk, and country all through Texas and Louisiana.  Oren's got the groove for anything, anytime.  The Doctor is in!

MIKE ROBERSON/Bass/VOX

Mike hails from Houston and has been playing bass all his life, beginning in the classical arena, and still plays with the Mid Texas Symphony.    He has toured with Joe Ely, Dino Lee, Ponty Bone, R C Banks, Jesse Taylor, and the Keepers.

JASPER KRONIM/Guitar/VOX

Jasper, from Corpus Christi, has played with many Texas artists including Calvin Russell, Ponty Bone, R C Banks, the Vanguards w/Mambo John, and the Bruce Smith Band.  He brings a unique sound to the Hillbilly Savants!  This cat can really shake the rafters!

WOODY PRICE/Guitar/Mandolin/VOX

Woody, from Ionia, MI, the Honorary Texan in the band, writes the songs. With 2 CD's released, "Damn Near Broke" and "Diesel and Desire," . . . . . 'nuff said!!
